“Anyone who say there is nothing happening on the Dublin restaurant scene, should visit the suburb of Rathgar….. Music is played at ideal volume, and quirky pictures and placards decorate the walls….Beckett & Bull is a great place to go for dinner and I sure will be back soon. The restaurant hosts ‘Funky Sunday’, when a Dj is playing from 3pm -6pm. Sounds hipster, but if my experience of dining at the restaurant is anything to go by, it will be another enjoyable affair…”

“…There are dozens of restaurants in the Rathgar/Terenure/Harold’s Cross area but only a couple serve consistently good food. There is now one more.

Beckett & Bull was opened earlier this year (in the old Riva) by Jonathan and Amanda Kirwan with the aim of bringing a “New York- style eatery” to Dublin 6. For “eatery” think less casual than a restaurant and more formal than a cafe…”

“…We got off to a good start in Beckett & Bull. A smiling reception, Blondie on the stereo and an invitation to sit at which ever table we liked the most. Ui Rathaile got stuck into a glass of Tempranillo, while I struggled with choice of whites by the glass. You could haveSauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, or Sauvignon Blanc. I faltered, considered ordering a bottle ofSierra Nevada Pale Ale, baulked and said darn it, let’s get a bottle of Chardonnay…”
